The silly season is definitely upon us.  We can feel the summer heat on our skin, the salty smell in the air and there are packed crowed in the shopping centres – yes, the festive season is almost here!

When it comes to indulging in food and drinks during the festive season, we don’t believe in restrictions or post-festive season guilt.  Food and drinks during this silly season is not about the calories, but about the family and friends that come together over lovingly made indulgent meals.

One way to avoid feeling the post-festive season guilt, is to get creatively healthy with your cocktail recipes, swapping out the high-sugar alcoholic beverages with a healthier alternative.  Also, try to mix in the cocktails with some delicious mocktails to keep you hydrated without getting too wilde!!

Below are some of our favourite SIMPLE cocktail and mocktail recipes to keep you happy this festive season.

Super refreshing and full of live cultures to keep your gut healthy.

  • 6 leaves of fresh mint
  • Kommunity Brew kombucha, ancient original flavour
  • 30 ml fresh lime juice or 1/2 fresh lime
  • Cocktail option: responsibly add your favourite white rum
  • Add a tsp of maple syrup or agave if you prefer something sweeter

  1. Place the mint, lime and 30 ml of kombucha in a highball glass
  2. Muddle or mash with end of a clean rolling pin the ingredients in the highball glass.  It is super important to muddle properly so you get the full extent of the beautiful flavours from the mint and limed
  3. Add enough ice to fill up the glass until 2/3s full.
  4. Pour over the kombucha until the glass is full.
  5. If  you are making a cocktail, pour over the rum first before topping it up with kombucha.
  6. Stir well and garnish with a mint sprig
  7. Taste and enjoy!!

We don’t usually have spirits but if we did, it would be gin. We recently featured Grump Fish Distillery gin at our event and it was a hit! This gin is all about sustainability and organic ingredients.

  • 2-3 whole kumquats (or your favourite citrus fruit)
  • 1 tsp maple syrup or agave
  • 30 ml of organic gin by Grumpy Fish Distillery, a small batch gin company made locally in WA (one of our favourite gins at the moment. They make their very own base-spirit with left-over wine that would otherwise go to waste, then infuse the pure spirit with organic botanicals)
  • Sparkling water

  1. Place kumquat, sweeter and gin in a highball glass
  2. Muddle or mash with end of a clean rolling pin the ingredients to release the citrus juices.
  3. Stir well.  You may leave in the citrus skin but if that is not how you roll, remove the citrus skin.
  4. Add enough ice to fill up the glass until 2/3s full.
  5. Top off with sparkling water.
  6. Stir well, taste and enjoy!

Hope you enjoy the recipes above. Remember eat and drink responsibly and there is no need to feel the guilt. This festive season is all about feeling union, connection and love.  Sending lots of love your way this festive season.
